Our Projects
Upgrading Koso Menchi Water Scheme by Solar Pumping
The Upgrading Koso Menchi Water Scheme by Solar Pumping project improves access to safe and reliable water while promoting climate resilience through clean energy. It replaces an aging, low yielding hand pump system with a modern solar powered water pumping scheme powered by a 7.44 kWp solar array and a high efficiency submersible pump. The project reduces dependence on fossil fuels, lowers carbon emissions, and provides a sustainable water supply for the community. In partnership with local authorities, the intervention strengthens water infrastructure, protects natural resources, and improves public health by ensuring long term access to climate resilient and environmentally sustainable water services.
Key Activities
- Conduct technical engineering and site assessments with local utilities.
- Procure and install LORENTZ solar pumping systems and solar modules.
- Install the solar ground mount array and electromechanical submersible pump components.
- Construct a protective fence around the solar infrastructure.
- Collaborate with the Debre Berhan Water Supply and Sewerage Enterprise on pipe network distribution.
Target Beneficiaries
4,500 community members in the Koso Menchi area will benefit from improved access to safe, reliable, and climate resilient drinking water through the upgraded solar powered water scheme.
