Our Journey of Change and Development
In the Tigray region, MCMDO’s Community HIV Care and Treatment project has provided vital support to 3,507 people in the towns of Mekelle and Quiha. This project is a multi-faceted approach to combat HIV by integrating medical services with economic and social support.
Project Highlights:
- Expanded Access to Treatment: The project has successfully linked individuals to health facilities, ensuring they receive necessary HIV testing, counseling, and antiretroviral therapy (ART) treatment.
- Empowering Communities: We have established Village Savings and Loan Association (VSLA) groups, empowering community members with financial literacy and a platform for economic self-reliance.
- Targeted Support: We provided a six-session Interpersonal Psychotherapy Group (IPT-G) program. Participants who completed the sessions graduated based on specific criteria, demonstrating significant progress in their mental and emotional well-being.
- Raising Awareness: The project includes extensive outreach on cervical cancer, providing essential information and linking community members to health facilities for screening and follow-up care.
