MCMDO Child SPACE Program
In Addis Ababa is a dedicated social protection and humanitarian initiative implemented in long-standing partnership with GOAL International / GOAL Ethiopia.
The project specifically targets street-connected children, homeless youth, and highly vulnerable orphans navigating extreme poverty within urban Addis Ababa.
Core Objective
The primary goal is to mitigate urban “street-ism” by removing children from high-risk street environments and providing them with a safe, localized sanctuary that facilitates holistic rehabilitation, psychosocial recovery, and successful community reintegration (reunification , micro enterprise and job linkage )
Key Activities
- Drop-In & Direct Rehabilitation: Providing a safe physical space where street children gain immediate access to vital basic needs, including nutritious meals, hot showers, clothing, and clean hygiene facilities.
- Psychosocial Support & Counseling: Offering intensive case management, mental health coaching, and life skills training to help children process trauma and build a baseline for behavioral recovery.
- Educational & Vocational Reintegration: Bridging children back into the formal education system via early childhood development tracks, basic literacy tutoring, or transitioning older youth into hands-on vocational skills training to foster future financial independence.
- Family Reunification: Conducting tracing and mediation efforts to safely reconnect and reintegrate rehabilitated children with their biological families or stable guardianship networks wherever safe and practical
- Target Beneficiaries:300 Street living children and youth ( 30 % girls and 10 CWD)
