MCMDO, in collaboration with the Danish Refugee Council (DRC), conducted a Community Based Protection Network (CBPN) training at Ura Refugee Site, Assosa Woreda, Benishangul Gumuz Region, western Ethiopia, bringing together representatives from refugee and host communities.

The training engaged refugee representatives, women, youth, and persons with disabilities (PWDs), providing an inclusive space to strengthen understanding of protection concerns and explore practical ways communities can support people at greater risk.
Participants focused on how community based protection networks can help identify protection concerns early, connect people with appropriate support and strengthen referral pathways. The training also emphasized the important role of community members in promoting safer, more inclusive, and resilient communities.

By strengthening the knowledge and confidence of community representatives, the initiative supports locally led approaches to protection and encourages greater community participation in addressing protection risks.

MCMDO and DRC remain committed to working with refugee and host communities, government institutions, humanitarian partners, and community structures to strengthen inclusive, community led protection mechanisms at Ura Refugee Site and beyond.
