For years, families in Tsetsera Kebele faced enormous challenges accessing essential healthcare. The Dogyite Health Post had fallen into disrepair, leaving thousands of people without maternal healthcare, immunization, nutrition services, or disease prevention support. During a cholera outbreak and rising cases of malnutrition, pregnant women were often forced to give birth at home, putting both mothers and their newborns at serious risk.

With support from the Ethiopia Humanitarian Fund (EHF), MCMDO restored hope to the community through an integrated Health, Nutrition, and WASH response. The project rehabilitated the health post, re-established essential healthcare services, strengthened nutrition support, improved access to safe water and sanitation, and brought lifesaving care closer to families who needed it most.

The impact of this support is best illustrated through the story of Mulu Berhe Hagos, a 20 year old first time mother. Throughout her pregnancy, Mulu received antenatal care, nutritional supplements, vaccinations, and continuous support from MCMDO’s Mobile Health and Nutrition Team. When the time came to deliver, she became the first woman to safely give birth at the newly rehabilitated Dogyite Health Post, marking the return of skilled maternal healthcare to the community.

“You saved my life and my baby’s life. Your services are a gift from Almighty God. Next to God, you gave my son life. Thank you for everything and for your humanitarian support.”
Mulu

Mulu’s safe delivery was more than a personal milestone. It symbolized the restoration of essential health services and renewed confidence in the local health system. Thanks to the support of the Ethiopia Humanitarian Fund (EHF) and the dedication of MCMDO’s frontline teams, families in Tsetsera can once again access quality Health, Nutrition, and WASH services that are protecting lives and building stronger, healthier communities.

Restoring Hope, One Community at a Time

Every rehabilitated health facility, every safe delivery, and every healthy child is a reminder that timely humanitarian action saves lives. Together with the Ethiopia Humanitarian Fund (EHF), MCMDO remains committed to ensuring that vulnerable communities have access to the essential services they need to survive, recover, and thrive.
