MCMDO has certified members of the Community Based Protection Network (CBPN) following the successful completion of capacity building training designed to strengthen community based protection mechanisms in Ura Woreda.

The training focused on key protection concepts, identifying and monitoring protection risks, community based protection approaches, referral pathways, and the roles and responsibilities of CBPN members. Through the training, participants strengthened their knowledge, practical skills, and confidence to identify protection concerns and respond appropriately within their communities.

Newly certified CBPN members celebrate their achievement in Ura Woreda, Benishangul Gumuz Region, Ethiopia.

The newly certified members represent diverse community groups, including the Refugee Central Committee (RCC), women and youth associations, persons with disabilities associations, and elders. Their participation helps strengthen community engagement and ensures that protection concerns can be identified and addressed through community based mechanisms.

With their newly acquired skills, CBPN members will contribute to community awareness activities, identify and monitor protection risks, support safe referrals, and take part in community based protection actions. Their continued engagement will help strengthen existing community protection mechanisms and promote safer, more informed communities.

During the certification ceremony, Masresha Haile, Coordinator at the Refugees and Returnees Service (RRS), shared reflections and encouraged the newly certified members to maintain their commitment and actively engage in identifying protection concerns, supporting community members, and strengthening community based protection mechanisms.
