Conflict Resolution and Reconciliation

Definitions of conflict abound, and the search for a single all-encompassing definition of conflict is a difficult endeavor. Conflict is a natural disagreement arising between two or more people. It exists when they have incompatible goals and one or more believe that the behavior of the other prevents them from their own goal achievement.

Conflict resolution is a way for two or more parties to find a peaceful solution to a disagreement among them. In Ethiopia, there are wider conflicts between persons, peoples, groups and different social, economic and political arenas. Since recent years, conflict becomes the dominant crisis in the country which leads the people in conflict to death, displacement, destruction of public and personal assets and more importantly the

source of unrest.

MCMDO will integrate concepts of conflict, resolution and reconciliation in to its programmes. Major focus under this thematic area will be conflict resolution and management training, strengthening local conflict resolution mechanisms, promote tolerance, peaceful coexistence and rule of law.
