More than 87 percent of Ethiopia population lives in rural areas. This population is main player of the country’s economy which relies on agricultural activities. To protect their healthy and productive power of the rural people, it is necessary to supply them with potable and adequate renewable Energy to run their daily activities like to supply water and electrify their homes. due to huge number of beneficiaries in the rural area only government of Ethiopia can not cover the energy demand by the rural communities.

By understanding this in 2016, MCMDO developed REESDE program (Renewable Energies and Energy Efficiency for Sustainable Development in Ethiopia) under the Climate change and environmental protection (CCEP) program and implemented in more than12 woreda’s in the country; the project benefited more than 150,000 beneficiaries.

Currently we do have1solar water pumping project in Oromia region Degem Woreda in partnering with blueEnergy, Foundation EDF and Synergy Renewable.

Our approach

MCMDO had implemented different projects on renewable energy alternatives such as

Efficient and Renewable Energy

MCMDO Introduces and implement efficient and renewable energy technologies in Koromi village for electricity access and clean cooking

Solar Water Pumping

MCMDO Implement solar water pumping for drink water Replace diesel generator that run the water supply by solar energy

Strengthening Institution for peace & Development(SIPED)

New water and Sanitation facilities, establishment Training & workshop, Maintenance of existing facilities and Disinfection of Water schemes

solar energy and bio gas energy

solid waste management

solar water drinking project

 solar irrigation project
