Since 2010, Dr. Velma Kirksey-Tarver, the founder and director of IGO, has been an invaluable supporter and advocate for MCMDO’s “One to One Sponsorship Program.” Her commitment has played a pivotal role in providing essential support to vulnerable children.

Through IGO, a US-based nonprofit, Dr. Kirksey-Tarver has ensured that the program receives consistent, unconditional cash support. This funding is crucial for covering the basic needs and educational expenses of the children enrolled. Thanks to this partnership, an average of over 70 children benefit annually, with 64 currently under the sponsorship umbrella. This support has been instrumental in allowing these children to attend school, access food, and secure a more stable future.

In late January 2025, Dr. Kirksey-Tarver visited the children, as she does every year. During her visit, she offered words of encouragement, motivating them to stay strong and excel in their studies. Her unwavering support and inspiring message continue to uplift these children, empowering them to pursue a brighter future.
